CB Placement

Gday all

I recently got a Realistic TRC453 CB radio and I'm looking for ideas on where to mount it. The dimensions (2" H x 6" W x 7.5" D) mean that unfortunately the ash tray mod won't work.

I've done a search for "CB Placement" on the forum and found that the most common "full size" placement seems to be the hole under the head unit, center console and on the door of the glove box.

I'd rather not lose the hole if I can help it and plus on this radio the mic comes out the side not front or back. If need be I could make it work but it probably is my second last option.

I've got a bench seat so there goes the center console idea and due to the amount of crap that ends up in my passengers footwell from time to time means I'd rather not put it there. Apparently muddy boots, empty bottles, and the odd dead rabbit or possum aren't conducive to good CB operation!! My least favourite idea.

The glove box is a possibility but the things ending up in the foot well tend to hit it on the way down.

So to my mind that leaves 1 place. The roof. Are there any channels or ribs that I could bolt a mount through? or am I going to have to fab something that Is held on by the Sun shade and rear view bolts?

Nick

PS. If i have missed any places please point em out.

Something just came to mind. Attach them to the roof with really decent Velcro.
Anyone tried this?

Thoughts?
