Stereo problems

Ok bear with me 'cause I don't really know what I'm talking about.

I have a 3 channel 350 watt amp, powering my 10" sub, four 6 1/2's, four more tweeters, and my crappy speakers up front. I have all of them hooked up on two channels.

Okay here's the problem; The stereo cuts out when the volume has been up pretty much all the way for approx. 20 minutes. What I'm thinking is that the stereo and amp are drawing so much power from the battery that the alternator has trouble keeping up with charging it. Bassically drawing too much power. The wierd thing is that my air horn and my fog lights still work when the stereo is cutting out. (mind you that the truck -on startup- clicks a couple of times then starts) I think there is something that you can buy that has something to do with power usage that determines how big of a system you have or whatever.

One last thing, please use small words no slang terms for anything......haha talk to me like I don't know anything about this type of stuff........like an idiot!! Thanks, Sean

Try hooking up the speakers properly with another amp.
Your amp is being unfairly abused.
The amp is heating up quickly and going into protection mode.

ahh, that could be it. I guess I'll just unhook some speakers 'cause I don't have the money for another amp. Also the speakers aren't worth another amp, I just threw them in there cause I had them. Thanks

Sizzler is correct. All of those speakers are drawing too much on the amp. i'm surprised it even stayed on for 20 min.

Thumbs up

Hey, I just removed the four crappiest speakers. I gotta say, the sound quality is SOOOOOO much better, and EVEN better than that, my sub hits ALOT harder! Almost rattles the seats! (I have a single cab) Now I can ROCK EVEN HARDER! Thanks again for the advice guys!!

Moral: more is not always the best!
