Hello everyone. 2005 rear end assembly..
I have a 97 Toyota T100 rear wheel drive and I am wondering if a 2005 rear end will bolt into the 97? I found a 93 with the same rear end in it but who knows how it was cared for. The 05 rear end is the same price, and I believe that I can put rear disk brakes on it way cheaper and easier than with the older one. I am savy enough to make some modifications if needed. The 05 is a Tacoma truck. Any advice or feedback is much appreciated and thank you for your help in advance. Have fun and always be safe.

Am I asking my questions in the proper place?
Hello everybody, I'm not very long on the group here and I'm still trying to navigate and feel my way around. I've dropped in to the other pages of site and this appears to be the best place to pose a question. I am the guy posting the question about the 05 Tacoma truck rearend to a 96 Toyota T100 switch. Has anyone tried to swap out newer model drivetrain parts to replace older worn out ones.
My 96 Toyota T100 SR5 is rear wheel drive and the rear axle seal ( passenger side) was leaking lube when I purchased it from " A FRIEND ". He had driven who knows how many miles with no gear lube in the rearend. The rearend howls like coyotes howling at the moon. Now I'm getting a lot of grinding and crunching noises in the rear. It's very irritating and I'm just waiting for it to give out.
I can buy another unit out of a 93 with I can't imagine how many miles or maintenance on it. For the same exact price I can purchase an 05 Tacoma rearend to replace it with. The Tacoma rear unit looks to be a disk brake set up. If it's not it will be. I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried the swap yet. On the other hand, are there definite differences that make this an illogical swap? I have put a complete Chevy powertrain under a 79 Toy/truck. Just very busy and I was hoping for some insight into the possibility of a swap. Hope to hear from someone who can supply some insight. Thank you.

Hello all of you Yota Loyalists. Yesterday I was perusing the net for a rear end assembly for my 96 Toyota T100. I was rather shocked to find out what prices these rear ends cost, especially for a common truck this old. I was given a price of$ 800.00 dollars for a stock used one. I believe that I can purchase a tougher, stronger and more reliable rear end assembly for not much more than that. Is this true, or am I pipe dreaming? If anyone has the time and info on the subject, I sure would like to know what you think. This is a slow budget build for a finish project of a 97 SR5 4x4 so I'm going to get the gear ratio of the 4x4 for use in it once I get the Florida body switched over from the 2wd- 4wd. Any recommendations for a new project Yota truck builder is much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge.

I am not an expert on your question, but the section you posted in is called "Site Feedback", which is a place for members to comment on how this forum works, what doesn't work, and new site updates, or possible changes. This really isn't a good place for technical questions such as yours.
Since your question covers multiple vehicles, it might be best to post your question here: "Newbie Tech section"
