Thinking about mounting sliders backwards

I have some Marlin Sliders and was thinking of mounting them differently...

Any thoughts?

Well the problem I see is they'd be more propense to stick in rocks instead of slide if you hit one with the straight part... I also like more the traditional way, much sthetic hehehe

They are designed to "slide" over rocks. Hence the curves. I'd say I'd agree that if you mount them backwards, it will eliminate the point of them, and you'll just be catching on rocks all the time.

Besides that, it would prolly look silly on the truck backwards.

function over form. I was a witness to seeing how well those curves alow you to "slide" over rocks. The curved edge alows the rock to "slide" right into the body. Now granted these sliders wern't marlins, but they are the exact same design. If the straight bar would have been there it would have deflected the rock instead of alowing it to get into the body. Kick outs are even better. It happend on YT member Ric's truck. Ask him about it. Here is a pic.

Getitdone, what was the length on those sliders? I have noticed that a lot of vendors sell 58" sliders for 4runners, foxfab sells 60", which is what I have and I still wished they were just a little longer, but I have yet to get any damage from it.

Keggo, as far as mounting them backwards, the problem is, you more often have rocks underneath your rockers, rather than just outside your rockers, so you want that main bar covering as much as possible under the truck. Looking at my sliders, I have scrapes along the whole bottom side, but the majority of them are under that main straight bar, under the rocker panels. I say mount them the normal way.

I'd sell those Marlin's (which were my plans if i had bought your...) and buy new ones with kickouts.

I've learned that "kickouts" have proved time and time again to be very effective.

Thanks for all the advice... I really want to get some with kickouts but don't have that much dough... Would it be possible to just add some kickouts to the marlins w/o ruining their structural integrity? Also, Rocket, sorry about that stuff... I thought I was ready to sell... but my truck means a lot to me... I know it's weird, but I couldn't bring myself to letting her go... sorry again man. Also, I have a few job opportunities that will allow me to bring a lot more bacon home.. so...
