rag joint delete help.

I need to get rid of the rag joint on my 91 truck, I would like to go to a universal joint style for clearance. I have searched but cant find the exact info im looking for.

I am not sure how many splines and what size my steering gear is, is there a universal fit joint that works? anyone have a part number?

will the pre 82 or so shafts work?

any input is helpful, thanks

Just what are you working with you need to change things ??

Are you going to a solid front axle??

Engine swap??

I think the easy way would be measure and count the splines.

if it was me i would source another shaft from the salvage yard and cut off the u joint with a couple inches of shaft. cut off rag joint and weld ujoint in place of the rag joint. might be a little ugly buy cheap and easy and if you can weld good strong too

Well if I have to weld , fine, but I guess I don't need anything then. I'll just weld in metal bar to replace rag joint. It is a straight shot anyway
