Alu floor?

Hello,

I've been searching but haven't had luck...

Have anybody removed the carpet of a 2nd Gen 4Runner and put aluminium in the floor?

I think it will be nice but I'm a bit concerned about the shape of the floor or the tranny tunnels...

Yeah, I know I can use some kind of Line-X or Herculiner, but what to do with the wires and so? Also I'd love the alu look... Have you ever seen the interior of a rally car? Something simillar...

Id suspect that the dissimilar metals would cause galvanic corrosion.

Use steel, or non mettalic.

I dunno if its "cheap" to do (if you have to ask how - you are best off not doin it) but fiberglass/carbon fibre over alum honeycomb and riited (like airplanes are made) should work...

david,

take a look at my writeup http://www.4unners.org/articles/sound

despite that my 4unner is a 98, this should give you an idea of what's underneath and what it looks like

Thanks to you both.

About the galvanic corrosion, I've read of this whith alu heads and injectors welding to it, but this is when there's electrolisis (Correct word in English?), current between both materials.

Would this happen with the floor?

Electrolysis happens when two dissimilar metals come in contact in the presence of an electrolyte, just water between two different metals will cause corrosion. A current through the two will make it worse, but it will happen regardless.
