Timing chain? Need help figuring this out thanks

Do you mean the sound of grinding?
Remember, the valves rattle a bit in 22Rx. It's just the way they are. Verify the source of the sound. Use a long screwdriver, and a pair of hearing protectors, or a mechanic's stethoscope. Readily available at Harbor Freight. Touch the screwdriver to where you suspect the sound is originating, and the handle to your hearing protector.
If that's the timing chain grinding, take the valve cover off, and look at the timing chain. If it's loose and sloppy, and you can look down into the area it runs through, you can even reach down in and test the chain's stretch. If it IS loose and sloppy, and/or grinding on the chain cover, REPLACE it. Not just the chain, but the chain guide and tensioner. You can get kits with all three items.
If the chain has worn on the chain cover, replace that too.
Verify there's no leakage from the water pump weep hole, right under the pulley shaft. If there is, replace the water pump too.
Last, check the oil pump. If there's oil leaking from the front main seal, or the edge of the oil pump, replace both seals. While you have the oil pump off, check the parts inside for excessive wear. If there is, guess what! Yup, replace it.
Finally, if the chain guide and/or tensioner have grenaded, you'll probably need to drop the oil pan, and clean the chunks out. If you don't, they can easily clog the intake screen, and suddenly, no oil pressure. No oil pressure, seized engine. Then you pretty much get to replace entire engine.
Does that help at all?
