Fuel Pump Not Working
Hello to everyone that reads this, I don’t know if this forum is still being used as I have only seen ones from the early 2000’s up until 2015. So if someone so greatly sees this I am having a bit of trouble with my fuel pump. The truck is an 1985 pickup with the 22re. I’ve had this demon of a truck for a little over 2 years. It is a nightmare due to rats and such. I have replaced parts and put in parts that were not on the engine before. One of which was the fuel pump. After having a long hard battle with the bugger, I dropped the tank and took it out and replaced it with a brand new one. Upon further inspection I’ve noticed that the pump does not get any power( any whatsoever). I dropped the tank for a 2nd time to experiment with it. Out of the tank the pump pumped fuel just fine... that is until I put the tank back up. So with the truck cranking over but not running I tried to diagnose my problem. I looked up the open circuit relay which to my understanding can be the culprit to my problem. I finally got to reach the relay and I tried the “jumping” method. I took a jumper wire and put it in the B+ slot and the FP slot. Still nothing, a lot of people have said the jumper method works for them but not for me. The truck cranked over with the relay connected but when I tried the jumper nothing happened, no crank or anything. So I put the relay back on, now the truck won’t even crank over with the relay plugged back in. Do you think this could be a blown fuse problem? A grounding problem? I am not whatsoever mechanically inclined and I really need to get this thing running. I’m trying to learn how to do all of this from the manuals and the internet. So if anyone has any ideas to what my problem could be it would be appreciated to leave a comment. Thank you- yours truly, Jayden

Fuel pump
Hey. Looks like we have similar issues. Yours running yet? Mine no. I have an 89 4 runner with 22re. My fuel pump works great if I hook a 12v battery to it. I’m not getting power to the circuit opening relay and I’m suspecting power feeds it from the main relay in the fuse box in the right front next to the battery other fuses appear to be good. If I find out what’s giving me problems I will post it here. Thanks for reading.
