Fluid in bell housing.

I’m trying to trace a leak problem. There is fluid leaking from my bell housing out of the clutch fork boot. I cannot deduce if it’s motor oil or tranny fluid. Didn’t know if someone could give insight into fluid that could leak into that area. Rear main seal is the only one I know of. But My knowledge is limited. Thank you in advance

Tranny gear oil has very distinct smell. Check your tranny level by opening the fill plug, level is supposed to be right up to the fill hole.

Is your engine oil disappearing?

Really though in either case you drop tranny, probably going to put in a new clutch and pressure plate clutch is probably soaked in oil. Then you can put in new rear main and tranny input seal. Both of those seals are not much more work with tranny out and are inexpensive. Get good OEM Toyota seals.

Thanks for the insight. Pretty certain it’s transmission fluid.
