wheels Wheels... Decisions Decisions...

I am thinking about getting new wheels... I am looking to get a 33x12.50R15.

The question is 15x8 or 15x10???
My 4runner is going to be used for about 75% highway, 15% gravel roads and 10% Trails. When on the trails, I normally run street pressure.

I open up a 4Wheeler Mag, and the packages are for 33x12.50R15 Mounted on 15x10.

I'm running 8".

I had two reasons for doing this.
1. Narrower wheel keeps the tire a little more under the body.
2. Narrower wheel is protected more from carnage (more rubber in the way than on a 10")

I'm also using 8" w/ 12.5's- for the same reasons as Cebby. Kinda a poor man's beadlock- I've run at 4 PSI in snow and at 8 PSI in the rocks with out problems.

The only draw back is the tire crown is pronounced more, and at street pressure tends to wear the center of the tread faster.

12.5" wide MT/R on 8" wide Eaton.

It works well. Bead issues have been minimal.

If you air down low on rocks, I think you will be disappointed with a 10" wide rim, that sure is a lot of space for a little tire.

10 is what's usually recommended but 8 works better.

i work in the tire industry and an 8" wheel is actually the prefferd choice of real wheelers that are running 33s... 10" rims normally dont come into play until you are using them on a heavily modified truck with minimum of 35s on it
