Unhappy 4x4 Help!

I am having a bit of trouble with my 87 FJ60. When I take it off road it keeps popping out of 4x4 high back into 2x high, and even worse is that when i put it in 4low it pops into neutral you can only imagine my dismay when i am trying to enter the miller trail and it pops into neutral! Man does that suck.

So here is the question. do I have to rebuild the transfer case?

I have checked all the linkage to the transfer case and everything seems to be where it is supposed to me.

Any help that you can offer would be great! Thanks in advance.

Well folks I talked to the nice people at sor.com and they say the transfer case gears are worn out (too little resistance will allow the gears to pop out) and recomend a rebuild.

Thanks for watching. Your local news is next.

I know someone who had the same problem and it had to do with the fork adjustment. That's the extent of my knowledge. I would go to Mud and post in the 60's section. You will get a lot more opinions there
