my local academy sports had the pelican 8 ft bass fisher on clerance for $299....because it was stored outside,had little mildew on the floor,and the swivel seats....needed oil to swivel.

so needless to say i picked up the boat,headed to walmart for a $120 30lb minkota.
at home i had 2 salvaged deep cycle batteries,and a solar panel with voltage regulator....expensive....but i get them free all the time.

so with both batteries,and solar panel....i should get a full 12 hours of riding/fishing from this rig.
plus it fits perfect in the back of my 82 long bed.boat weights in at 87lbs,fully loaded im looking at about 200 lbs.

total cost for me to ride!

went ride 4 miles today,she cruises along at walking pace,plenty power,plenty room for 1 adult,2 adults...it would be tight.
i had a blast just cruising around.

Fun. I see those USED all the time for $400 so you made a deal. In my state, VA and NC the minute you add a motor including a trolling motor you have to register the boat. Even if it's 8'. I didn't see any registration numbers so I thought I'd mention it. Those tickets show up on your criminal record which may affect employment. You should be able to google search whatever state you're in. If you're on a private pond forget I said anything.

 

you are correct!
the federal wildlife and fisheries require you to register all motorized vessels,from electric....to diesel power,no mater what horse power.
when i purchased my boat,i filled out the paperwork,got a notarized bill of sale from academy.academy told me to keep the bill of sale in the boat with me untill about 6 weeks when the actuall paperwork comes in.
that paperwork will issue me the numbers to put on the side,showing that the boat is registered.
academy told me i can motorize it without the paperwork for the time being,aslong as i have the bill of sale/registration app in my possesion during use,but they didnt recommend use of the motor on the boat untill the numbers arrived to avoid hassel from local water patrol/wildlife and fisheries.

 

made 2 fishing trips with her,i really like this rig,portable and efficient.had enough room for me,battery,solar panel,drink/food cooler,2 rod and reels,small tackle box,paddle,life vest and 48 qrt ice chest.
it was cramped....but i was still able to easily move about,and get to everything without moving stuff out the way.

now if had 2 people in there,i couldnt bring the 48 qrt chest.....maybe a 20-30 qrt one.
