wheel size advice
i'm looking for a little advice on selecting my next set of wheels. due to budget constraints i'm somewhat limited in my wheel selection. i've decided to go with the american racing ar-767 (the traditional black american racing wheels that everyone has). my problem is that right now i have 31x1050's on my 4runner. i want to keep the 31's for now because they're still good, and i want to use them in the snow. i will in the future want to go to 32x1150's and maybe have the option to go to 33's if i really get into wheeling. the ar-767 wheels only come in 15x8 or 15x10 (15x9 would be ideal for what i want to do).
if i choose 15x8, then i'm right in the center of the recommended size for the 31x1050 (7"-9") but on the low end for the 32 (8-10). i'd really like to get the wider wheel because it has more room for upgrades in the future.
basically my question is: is it ok to run 1050 tires on a 10" wheel? i know it's out of the spec from the tire company, but is it ok to do? or is it too dangerous to put a 1050 on a wheel that's almost as wide?
if i go with the 8" wheel, will i get a bunch of ballooning of the tire when i go to a 32x1150, since i'll be on low end of the limits for wheel size?
thanks!

Go with the 8" wheels. 10" is too wide for a 10.5. As far as ballooning - that's a good thing. It protects the rim and keeps the tire on the rim in low air situations. I am currently running 33x12.5R15's on 15x8's. The ride is a big improvement over stock. The wheels are an inch wider than the stock alloys and the ones I got are almost an inch less backspace. In wheels and tires, my track has increased about 5 inches overall.

Get 15x8's.
Mike is right on with the reasons.
A narrower rim protects you from losing a bead when aired down.
10" wide rims with 10.5" tires would be silly since the tire would look a lot like a racing slick with all that width.
I have 33x12.5's on 8" wide rims and am toying with the idea of 15x9s when it is time for beadlocks.

I know the rockstomper "kit" to make your own beadlocks added over an inch to the width...
