Taillight Guard Installation: Questions

Situation: After extensive market research, I bought WAAG taillight guards. One reason was I'd gotten the impression WAAG involved 'no-drill' installation. On opening the box I found 2 surprises. First, I'm supposed to drill and use tapping screws (inside the tailgate jamb) to mount the guards. Second, there's a moveable / pivoting little bitty arm on one of each guard's horizontal grills. Its end is a rectangular pad with adhesive, which is supposed to be stuck to the taillight lens. So here are my questions:

- Are there any taillight guards that are _really_ 'no-drill'?
- If so, what brand(s)?
- Anyone willing to hazard a guess whether I can avoid sticking the guard arm / pad to the taillight lens? (I'm wondering if I can simply stick cut-to-fit rubber onto the adhesive and just let it sit against the lens like a bumper).

I still like the WAAG's better than the others I've checked on. However, I might consider switching if I can avoid drilling and glueing the guard to my lenses.

I've got some older WAAG's and they just attach with the two inner taillight bucket screws. No drilling, no little arm. See if you can find a used set somewhere.

I have the Westin Tailight Guards, I had to drill into my rare clear tailights. I can post pics for you, if you're interested. Let me know.
