tach problems

i installed a tachometer on my 2wd 94 pickup because it did not have one, the only problem is the tach doesn't catch the idle speed of my truck. only after the rpms are at 1000 or higher does it catch anything. any way to fix this?

Thas funny I just installed a tach, and it will not fall below 1000 rpm's. I thought my truck was idling really high. It may be for all that I know. I have an autometer tach, just in case there is a pattern with this brand. Also I have a 94 p/u as well.

Hey guys,

Did you get this issue fixed? I just installed a autometer 2300 and I noticed that the rpm's on the tach will not drop below 1000. I turned the idle all the way down to the point where it will not turn any more and it only went down to 900-950. If you guys have fixed yours can you help out a fellow toyota truck owner.

thanks
