Stiff gas pedal

Stiff gas pedal
The gas pedal on my 4R is quite stiff, especially when its cold. It would require some foot effort to push down on the pedal. During highway speeds, I would need to push down a little more to keep the speed steady, this has been bothering me so I've been using CC quite a bit on the freeway. Can someone enlighten me with a solution to how I can fix the stiff pedal problem. I have tried spraying some WD-40 near the throttle cable spring and putting my car on ramps in hope that the WD-40 would flow down to lubricate the inner part of the TB, but no improvement. I tried opening up the TB by hand and it takes a bit of effort to open and I also noticed its not very smooth, kind of feels like rust is inside the twist part of the TB. Any help would be great.

A throttle body cleaning may help if it is your throttle body that is sticking and causing the problem. Very simple to do.
This will give you an idea of what to do:

MIne was stiff. I cleaned and lubed the throttle body shaft and spring, especially the return spring mechanism, and the cable at both ends, and the pedal itself. (Not the pad, but the hinge...) No more worries. The biggest difference was the return spring parts. Lubed it with silicone spray instead of WD, so it will quit attracting grime.
