Sonoran Steel 1st gen roll bar for 3rd gen

Hi everyone I'm lookin in to getting a interior roll bar for my 97 4runner. Sonoran Steel has a pretty sweet one that looks super easy to install. its just a 1st gen roll bar modified to fit a 3rd gen. my question is does any one have this setup if so can you post some pics. i would love to see what it looks like in a couple different 4runners and setup just so i have an idea of what i would be able to do with it. I'm thinking about bolting some 6x9 speaker up on pointing backwards so when i'm camping and what not I got tunes bumpin out the back.

i don't have a 4runner, but i can't really see that roll bar doing anything for a 2nd and later generation 4runner. 1st gen needed it since the top came off and there were no B or C pillars, or a roof to help out in a roll - but the other 4runners have all of this to protect passengers and area designed to take a pretty good roll. if you're worried about rolling it enough to need this rear roll bar, then what's going to help you out in the front of the cab where you're sitting?

what you really want is a REAL roll cage if you actually want it to function. there aren't really any mass-produced products for doing this, so most likely you'd have to get a custom job and it will most likely run you close to $1000. i do know that 4xinnovations makes some internal cages for earlier generations, so what you might want to do is contact them and see if their 2nd gen roll cage kit has been fitted to the 3rd gen before, or how much more it'd be for a 3rd gen specific cage. 4xInnovations 2nd Gen Roll Cage

you may or may not even be able to stick a trail-gear Tacoma cage inside the 4runner's front cab. search it.

here's probably the closest to what you were originally seeking out:

^Personally, i know in a rollover the roll bar won't do anything.

I got it for $25 and paid a nominal fee to a local welder to cut the legs shorter on the front and reattach the plates. It serves it's purpose as a fire extinguisher holder, flashlight mount point, and talking piece (asked a lot about it, surprisingly).

This is one of those 'aesthetic' mods. Not so much safety. imo
(that full cage is sick, though!)

^^might wanna take off the end piece on your high lift. Perfect place to impact a skull case on the right rear passenger...
