Skid plate and diff drop????

I know that with the diff drop, you need to modify the back mounts for the factory skid. I have searched and cant seem to find any pics or anything of what this should look like. Can anyone help me out. Oh yeah, its a 97 4runner

Once you get the diff drop on, you'll realize that you cannot screw in the 2 middle screws of the back portion skid plate. Then you'll think hmm....if the last two holes were just a little bit longer.........then I could probably get the front 2 screws in.

which is what you can do, just elongate (is that even a word?) the back holes to be able to get the front 2 screws in.

I don't have any pics cuz I was too lazy and didn't do it, so I don't have the middle 2 screws in, but I'm pretty sure it won't fall off while driving, maybe get pulled off on the trail, but that can happen anytime.

I just installed the Revtek kit last night myself. It was very easy. I used all the original skid plate bolts to put it back on, even though they provided 2 replacement ones.

I don't have a digital camera, but the back 2 bolt holes (towards the back of the truck) had to be slightly elongated. I took a dremel and a bit and removed about an 1/8" or so on the back end. Then it bolted right up. Just get into it, it will be readily apparent what you have to do.

My CV's are not horizontal now, but are much much less angle than before with 2 1/2" lift. Got to be better, maybe not perfect, but better.

Hope this helps.

Chris

funny, I didn't have to modify anything with mine. I installed the revtek spacers and then just bolted the skid plate back up like normal. I also leave them together as one piece whenever I take them off.

It must be a year thing because my 96 runner's skid plate lined right up after the diff. drop. I had my die grinder ready and everything, only to be dissapointed by a perfect fit.(I like cutting and grinding things on vehicles).
