Should they undercoat?

My parents just bought a retirement home in Cougar, Wa (near Mt. Saint Helen's) and will be coming up after the So Cal house sells (hopefully January). I'm house sitting 'til then. They have 2 Explorer's and a '94 Dodge PowerRam 4x4 (Cummins TurboDiesel) truck. My question is this: should they get the undercarriages coated/sprayed? Are the trucks sold up here stealership undercoated or....?

If it's a personal preference thing, where would be the best place to take 'em? They would rather take it someplace who do that sort of thing instead of trying it themselves......

Any suggestions/thoughts/feelings are appreciated......

Hello, First off nice choice in places to live!
Undercoating is not that big of a deal up here because we do not salt out roads. Deicer is used up here, thank goodness! However undercoating is always a great idea!! Most auto detailing shops offer this service. But honestly there is no need to worry or rush to have it done. Just take your time and call around for the best price.

Just my 2 cents.

Undercoating is great if it's done immediatley after the vehicle is built. Otherwise, you have to be extremely careful about undercoating a vehicle that has been in service. Unless it's properly prepared (and an awful lot of places don't or can't do correct preparation), you end up sealing in moisture and dirt and rust can form and grow underneath the coating. You never know it until it's extreme and usually beyond a simple repair. I'd beware undercoating on used vehicles and stick to frequent high pressure under body washes.

I read that in a post when I searched, but like I said, I wasn't sure and didn't get a real solid answer in my searching so that's why I asked
