Ive searched but just want clarification

I own a 01 tacoma 3.4L with california emission

i live and car is registered in VA

if i were to ever replace my cat converters or my o2 sensors (front and rear)

do i have to purchase california emission cats and sensors?

or can i just slap on 49 state legal ? ive heard that as long as i have the sensors plugged in, i am ok . but would it be tripped during emission testing?

i just want clarifications. please if you can thanks

 

If it is now registered in VA, and not going back to CA, just put anything on it you want. Doesn't matter now. Welcome to the dirty south! LOL
