Question Question about truck beds for a '99 Tacoma Ext....

I recently hydroplaned and smashed the driver side part of my truck bed.

Question is... someone told me that truck beds also come in parts. Like the driver side/bed/passenger side are bolted together? Is this true? Cuz I might be able to get away with just replacing the side instead of replacing the whole bed... unless luck is with me and I find a truck bed cheap.

Any helped will be greatly apprieciated. Thx in advance.

Found out you can buy just the bed wall. Anyone have any good leads for the $$$ challenged on finding one?

Maybe you could find a used box that was hit on the passenger side that still has an intact driver's side. Buy/remove the whole box and drill out the spotwelds attaching the bedside to the bed. It's better to use an actual spotweld cutter bit instead of a regular drill bit.

Yup, it's gotta be spot-welded back on. You could get an estimate of the job from a body shop, then compare the cost against replacing the whole box with either good used or new (or aftermarket?) to see which is cheapest.
