My 98 Toyota tacoma shifts great in 1st thru 4th....third and fifth were tight in the shift pattern, now I can go all the way over and it goes in 3rd and if I try reverse it goes in 4th......does anyone recognize this problem and recomend a fix...thanks

 

snap ring broken, internal. Not that Ive ever had one apart, but on big trucks (which most trans have basically some key like components), thats the typical cause of one doing something like that. A gear not staying where it should when trying to change gears.
