new shoes!

ever since one of my buckshots failed last fall, i've been running some old uniroyal laredos that are probably 20+ years old on the factory 25 year old rims on my truck. i finally had enough, and cleaned out the rest of my cash for a set of tires. i settled on swamper LTBs, since the price was right. i already love them! they're actually not much louder than those old street tires i had on the truck, and though they flat spot after sitting they round out pretty quick. i got the 31x11.5R15 size, which seems to fit nicely on my junkyard chrome mags. we'll see how long they last, but i think they'll be better than anything else i've run offroad, and don't seem to bad on the street. i'll probably go bigger in a year anyway though, so i'm not too concerned.

here's the tires on my pickup:

close up of the tread. it's pretty beefy!

Wow, nice meat! I thought I did good getting 7 yr and 90k out of my last set of Michelins, but 20 yrs? I also recently replaced the spare which I'm pretty sure was factory original. Down here in AZ dry rot can make a tire pretty useless if unused, so that it crumbles just when you need it. Happy muddin'

that's how my buckshots went. they were at least 10-12 years old, and they dry rotted out and cracked. i believe the old a/ts were used in the winter, but they were OLD! i still had a factory sized H78 bias spare underneath, but replaced it with my 1 good buckshot i had left over, i figured it would work in a pinch
