I decided to post this here because no one looks at the other section. Anywho....its a 2002 tacoma 4x4, 4" lift with 49,000 miles for 16,500. It sounds like a great deal but i want second opinions. Anything i should check in particular when go to look at it?

Ya, check everything, I smell scam, price is way low, if thats what they go for there I will buy a car hauler and buy trucks there and sell them for $5000 more here in PA all day long.
Not sure where "there" is but judging by the palm trees in the picture its no where near PA.

I would check out what type of lift it is, and then find out what its been used for. Clean looking truck though. A good friend of mine just got a 98 with 80k on it and 3" spacer lift for 12,500. If you cut down the mileage to 49 and add a few years newer id say yours sounds like a good deal also

Too bad its an auto though

I checked KBB and NADA that truck is priced OK, but it's at the high end. So i don't know why people think it's a great deal. I just noticed the bumper gap looks horrible like the bumper is bent up. I would say buyer beware the billet grill and bumper gap might be the sign of bigger problems.

I would try to find what lift it is and who put it on. 2cents
Some people dont know what they doing and try to save money by doing it themselves which could mean problems for you.

oh nice i didnt even notice the gap, good looking out. I'm gonna call him today and ask for the vin and what type of lift is on it. Last time i called i spoke to the wife, you can probably imagine how much info i got out of her.

Oh and it has shaved door handles...not to into that

Looks like a street queen to me, but the price isn't too far off for the West end.

Pretty sure it's aftermarket paint, the gap might be caused by a body lift, depending on what kind of lift is on it...

If you do go for it, go over the truck with a fine-toothed comb.

BTW, auto is the only tranny that Toyota offered with the double cabs 01-04.

First off there is no reason to let the fact that it's an auto bother you. In many ways they are much better than standard. It's just a matter of preference.
Second the price is more than right if everything checks out after taking it out in the boonies for a trail ride and then some express driving can reveal any problems.
Third, the last real Tacomas were made in 2004 and after that they went to hell. The year is right, the truck looks great and the price is right. Now just check it out or better yet if you have a good mechanic let him check it out for you. Mike

ya i prefer an auto nowadays, my rigs dont see a whole lot of mud and zero rocks, its mostly road, sand and snow. I want to go check it out but its 5 hrs away from me thats the only problem. I have to plan it.

My first impression is that it's been repainted because navy was not an option in '02. Next concern is what was it painted? What type of body/structural work was done before the paint? I would walk away.

Just because it's been painted doesn't mean anything was wrong with it to begine with. I just had my car painted in the last few months and it was fine I just didn't care for the color. Maybe it was redone because he shaved the handles and decided to go all out and get it sprayed a new color. There are many reasons why it might have been done. I'd say if you like it go check it out and see for yourself.
