I have a 3.0 engine, and i get a code 52, which is the knock sensor. The guy i bought it from said that the sensor had been replaced so it's probably the wire, and the intake manifold needs to be taken off to get to it. I noticed a wire on the passenger side that was plugged into the top of the intake and it wasn't plugged in all the way. So i plugged it in, disconnected the battery, and went for a test drive and light came on again. So i'm guessing i'll have to take off the intake manifold. Is this a hard project? Was that wire i plugged back in the knock sensor wire? And i need to buy new gaskets when i do this, correct? Just wanna make sure before i start something. Thanks

The knock sensor wire is a PITA to change.. Yes, you need to R&I the intake plenum & manifoild. The wire is located on the drivers side of the intake and the plug is under the harness for your injectors. It is not a hard swap, but there is a lot of wires and hoses to disconnect. Mark them good with masking tape and have at it. Make sure you install a new PCV valve and you will need a plenim gasket, intake gasket (I would buy valve cover gaskets while you are so close) Make sure you have a tube of FIPG or silicoln on hand. I'm having the same problem. Did you replace the sender as well as the wire? How did it work out?

I had mine come on. It turns out my connector had oil in the connector for some reason. I think it might have been when I had spilled some oil when filling it up after a oil change I disconnected the sensor from the harness under the intake and blasted it out with electrical contact cleaner and put it back together and the knock code hasn't been back since. However most of the time it is the knock sensor wire I just got lucky I guess.
