Well, so last week I am driving home on I-405 (for those of you in the Seattle area) and I am going south through Tukwila, when my clutch goes out on me. It had been slipping for a few weeks, so I just decided to wait until it finally gave out. So I get it towed and the clutch replaced. that is $1000 later. I start driving it this week, and last night, white smoke starts billowing out of my exaust, the engine over heated, and at idle, it won't stay started...I have heard these are all signs of a head gasket failure...
anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Other than a head gasket failure?

or course this happens the week after I get the clutch replaced...

From my experience there isn't much else it could be with all of those symptoms. Luckily you have the 4 so it shouldn't that hard to fix or replace the motor. I had an Accord that I blew the headgasket on and it started with the white smoke one night and blew on the way to work the next day, about 30 miles later. Just to give you an idea how fast they go.Originally Posted by StoryR

Have you checked your coolant and oil to see if there is signs of mixing?
Yeah, I was out there checking the motor today, pulled the dipstick out, and sure enough, it was a milky brown color...My poor runner
