Does anyone else have a linkage like this? http://community.webshots.com/photo/...69793599RHVfsg It is supporting the center link of the Superlift kit. I can't find any reference to it in the kit's instructions and I'm just wondering if anyone else has a supported center link. I have been blessed with no problems with my idler arm, idler arm bushings or my pitman arm and this link may be the reason. BTW, I take back anything bad I said about Superlift before. They are sending me out some new bushings for that link at no charge, even though they quit making my kit in 1995.

I have a 3" suspension lift.I don't know the maker of the lift.It was already installed on my truck when I bought it.Mine does not have this link.I think mine is from skyjacker.I've had no problems with it.I'm running 33's with a 15x10 wheels.No problems with lining up when I have the tires rotated.

oh yeah sorry but quick question about your skid plate. do the bottom bolts have a nut on them inside the crossmember that's hard as balls to get a wrench on to un bolt? sorry for the semi hi jack of thread. just curious.

It has those nuts that lock up automaticly without a wrench on them. I don't know what they are called. They don't handle a lot of torque though.Originally Posted by 884runner

But I never gave the steering center link support thingy much thought until I noticed the bushing were going out. I always though it was strange that others have problems with their idler arms and I don't.

The long arms that go from the diff. crossmembers to the t-case crossmember are called a kicker braces. I don't really know what purpose that front brace serves? I don't really see the need to put a brace there.

I'm thinking that front brace takes stress off of the idler and pitman arms. Because of the lowered center link there is more leverage on them. Without the brace the tie rods could put more of a moment on the idler and pitman arms. I sure had a good looking idler arm bushing when I checked it after about 95,000 miles. I think its the reason I've had no problems with the idler or pitman arms.

I donn have the answer but it kooks liek the mount angle on the front side is part of your bushing problem.

Looks like you need to tilt that mount on the left, upper, side to match the angel of the arm. Seems to me the way it is that only one side of each of the upper and lower bushing is taking the brunt of the force.
The lower mount is tilted correctly.

just flip the bolt so the nut is on top
