Diff - Differences

Is there any difference between the differentials on 1st, 2nd or 3rd gen V6 4 Runners? Are the lockers available specific to generation, or are they the same across the board?

The differentials are different between the generations. Lockers are fairly specific to the different gens.

http://www.powertrax.com has by model listings of their products and you can see which gens of 4Runners have which diffs in them and which PowerTrax models will work with each. I'm not promoting powertrax, although they make a great prodcut, I'm just using this because they have an convenient online listing.

Hope this helps.

Lockers

Thanks for the link, doc. The reason I asked is www.tractech.com (Detroit Locker & limited slip) is coming out with an electric locker. It will be a limited slip until you hit the switch - then full locker. I don't know if they are planning any Toyota models, so I wondered if there was any cross-compatibility. I'm going to email them to see what the deal is. Hopefully they will be cheaper than the ARB's.

I would think it would be better in the snow when I go to Colorado sking in March?

Thanks Man just looking for your thoughts
Well, if they make one for the new 4Runners, that'd be great I think. But judging from their online application chart, they only make a LockRight for the new 4Runner rear ends. I am going to call them to verify this as I am interested in a No-Slip. I'll post back after I talk to them.
