deckplate mod...

just thought i would share this, it was posted on NE-TTORA

here's the entirethread

and here is the quote:
"by the way the deckplate mod is a total waste of time and money you mines well dump a bottle of water in your airbox because itr sux"

i have heard the deckplate mod is no good a couple of other times, but you guys seem to love it... what i might do is take off my elbow, and see how that is. if i like it off, ill put a deckplate in. also want to get an amsoil filter that will help a lot.

so what do you guys think about that quote? i bet it will spark some anger

Well, I dont have the deckplate mod, but i did remove my elbow. Unless this guy is speaking from experience, I think he has no place to talk about it that way. For the money, it is a great way to increase HP. Just removing the elbow helped me out considerably. I think i might eventually re-install my elbow and do the deck plate mod.

I didn't want to subscribe given I think what he wrote was adequate enough.

First, what he's saying is all his opinion and conjecture. It doesn't sound like he really understands the pros and cons of both, but then again I didn't read the entire thread.

I know a few folks here (namely gadget) has done the dyno testing. On a personal note, I've done both the elbow and the deckplate. I know that doing the elbow and fording water is suicide for the engine. I'm not sure if he considered that.

yeah, i dont know what he was talking about with the water. a lot of people at TTORA don't like the deckplate, i think. he is probably just taking their side. personally, i think it is a good idea. you can close it up, and if you did it right, nothing will go wrong with it. so what can you loose if you do it right? NOTHING. unless your dumb, and drive through 2 feet of water with it open.... :pat:
