clicking noise in engine

I have a 2002 4runner and its has 36,000 miles almost. Also its up to date with service at the dealer. Does anyone know about a clicking sound in the engine when it is started also sometimes in reverse. It sounds more like a clicking gas stove not really like the pinging valve noise if you guys know what I mean. Any thoughts appreciated thanks in advance :pat:

Yeah a ticking sound

I've got a 95 2nd gen with K@n needs to be recharged. 85k on it.

Anyway, I finnaly got back to San Diego, Had to get a Smog
the timing was at .3 shell changed it to .6 ??

So, after sitting at Matson in LA for a month from Hawaii and getting the timming ajusted, I drove from Oxnard to San Diego and I'm hearing this same wierd ticking sound?
Throtel body; I thought Hmm/? Have not narrowed it down.

Maybe need new spark plugs.

now running 80 plus for hours at a time; I rarley had it above 60mph in HI

My speakers are also fading (unrelated)

It could be such a humongous number of things, you are better off taking it to a dealer, especially since it's gotta be under warranty. With such low miles, I doubt it is anything serious, but you never know...
