center consols
does anyone know of anyone company that makes aftermarket center consols that you can lock up. i know Tuffy makes one for some land cruisers, but does anyone know if they or any other company makes one for a first gen?

What kind of lock are you getting for you glove compartment. I have been looking for a locking glove compartment for my Tocama for about a month now. My roomate has a locking glove compartment on his 3rd gen 4runner and I have been wondering if I could fit one from a 4runner in my Taco. Let me know what you are doing for you glove compartment if you don't mind.

Long story short...
I started poking around almost a year ago just to see what I could find, found one existed but was always unavailable at the few places I though I could get it. Finally went ahead and ordered one from a locksmith, 4 months now and it hasn't come in, probably never will. I contacted the manufacturer and they might be making a non- wholsale exception for me in exchange for info on the failed distributors or something. I'm going to post it at va4roc.com...
Dunno what you would do for your Taco, but check definitly check locksmiths. There may not be one available if it's old like mine, and since it's fully 'closable' there may never have been one. Lemme check my notes and see if I have any taco info...

88runner: Tuffy said they were easy to fit, but I remember when I researched this that there was an inevitable choice to either drill new holes in the very tough box bottom or in the very thick truck body. I would drill the box, but am not equipped to do it. Other than that it's a matter of picking the Tuffy that fits the dimensions you need it to.
