Backspacing on rims

Im looking to get 33's for my truck, a 97 2.7 tacoma. I run 31's now on the 2004 tacoma rims which are 16'' with 4.5" backspacing. Im getting new 15'' steel rims, and I was looking at 15x8 with 2in backspacing with either 32X11.50 or 33X10.5 bfg mud terrains. Would this work, or should I look for different backspacing? Im looking for the tires to stick out an inch or two from the sides of the truck. Also, I run 31's now, would i notice THAT much of a difference in acceleration or anything else with 33's? Im ordering the stuff tomorrow so thanks in advance.

Jim

First, have you verified that 15's will clear your brake calipers etc. If your truck came originally equipped with 16's they may not. Don't know about 2inch backspacing, seems like alot. Many here go with 3.75 with good results. Also can't tell you about the accel. I have 31's on a 22re and think 33's would suck, but your 2.7 has a good bit more juice than mine.

My truck came stock with 15's, its just a weird story how it got 16's. Anybody on here run either 33x10.5's or 32x11.5's on their taco, and what backspacing?

3.75" would be recommended, but even more recommended would be to regear your truck. 2.7 and 33" tires is gonna be SLOOOOOOOOOW
