AR-767 Rims

Hey guys,

Well, I found a killer deal for some used AR-767 rims. Seems like EVERYONE has them, but, whatever.

I was wondering though... the guy said that they have 5" of backspacing, and a 12mm offset. They are 16x8 as well.

Would they fit alright on my 4runner? I see them everywhere, so I would assume so. I was thinking about getting rims with a 3.75-4.25" of backspacing and not 5". But, I dont quite understand what that offset does.

Could someone tell me for sure if they would fit?

I'll be running a 11.50" wide tire as well.

the stock wheels from what i have read have 5" backspacing... it might be too much though as some vehicles are differnt and rub in differnt places, but it might cuase the tire to rub the upper arm.....

Well, Im pretty sure that my stock rims ahve 4.25" of backspacing...

But, whats the whole 12mm off-set stuff?

I just dont understand...the AR website says that 16x8, with 5" backspacing is the only rims they make for the 767...and i see them on Toyota trucks everywhere.

maybe these guys are just getting them custom?

you see them everywhere? are you sure? all of the wheel companies make a black d window rim... american racing, eagle, unique, cragar, us wheel...... if your stock wheels are 4.25" then you really need to check on the 5" backspacing..... your tire combo and maybe even the rims wont fit if they smack the control arm or anotehr suspension member

I mean, Im pretty damn sure. They have the red+blue racing stripes.

(This guy actually took them off).

I see them around a lot on Toyota trucks... Im sure that they would fit if I had the stock 10.5" wheels on there.

Right now, with my 4.25" backspaced rims, I have about 1" of clearance between the A-arms... so It would be pushing it.

Plus Id rather get a wider stance than go narrower....

This guy just has such a good deal.... 5 rims for $100... and they look sweet!

hehe... but, damn those wheel spacers are $95, so I could technically get 4 new rims for only another $100.

well i dont know if they will fit or not... and without trying them out i wouldnt chance it..... if its a matter of spending another $100 to get what i wanted, then i would get what i wanted and not stress about the other stuff....

and jsut because the red and blue stripe doesnt mean its AR..... most of the companies that produce those wheels have that striping or at least some variation of it

Suggestions:

Actually measure the backspacing of your current wheels and the AR-767's. This will give you the difference of clearance on the inside.

No way to know for sure unless someone else has the same truck, suspension, wheels, and tires.

America's Tire Co. was willing to test fit American Racing wheels at no cost to me since I bought my tires from them.

Good luck!

Here's a good description of offset v backspacing:
