97 4runner starter removal

I have a 97 4runner, 4wd with an automatic. I got the wires off and the bolts out and am trying to get the starter out from the vehicle.....and I am not seeing an easy way out. Do I need to disconnect a few things to make it easier? Thanks, madmmac

I removed the wheel before starting, and it came out with little trouble by pulling forward then letting it go down with a slight angle. Maybe I got lucky, but it was not that bad (at least compared to removing the screws!).

Good luck!

A nine year old, one post thread comes back from the dead. I hope the OP has gotten the issue taken long before now.
