My 2002 4 cyl. tacoma stopped shifting into O/D at normal speed(45-50) .Occassionaly it goes in,but im usually at around 70. All operation is smooth and normal.Why would it operate sometimes and others not all? I can "trick" it into shifting by stamping gas pedal and quickly removing only sometimes.Nothing common(i.e.hot/cold) when it works or not,it does or doesnt. Already checked the obvious fellas.Thanks for any input

 

Sounds like dirty AT fluid. Have you ever had a transmission flush? How many miles does your truck have?

 

I have 128,000 miles,never flushed but changed fluid,looks normal smells normal,$200 (approx.) to flush at dealer.they want 190 to evaluate and they even had no clue as to why problem comes and goes .
