2001 Tacoma 3.4L Transmission Slip....?

Hoping someone can shed some light on what I believe to be experiencing I was driving with O/D OFF. So I just towed about 1,000 LBS on my lifted Tacoma with 33’s going up a steep grade doing 70-80 MPH and it held strong engine had a good load on it for sometime and no issues climbing the hill.

Now coming back home on flat land I was trying to pass a truck and got on it pretty good but I would believe it was less of a load than climbing the steep hill. Now as I am on the gas pedal, I feel the truck lose power and start to slow down. It was enough for me to notice. I would then let off the gas and lightly get back on it and everything was fine. And this seemed to happen a couple times on the way back.

My questions are what am I experiencing? Is this Transmission slip?

Is this normal? The truck doing this to protect itself? Or my transmission on its way out?

Is this just related to the O/D OFF portion of the tranny? Do I have life left in it by keeping O/D on?

Also I just flushed the transmission about a year ago, 15K miles. By dealership.

Thanks,

I think its an OD OFF thing, Ive experienced weird shifts with OD OFF, making the truck feel like a slug under certain circumstances. 33" tires?, 4.10 ratio by chance?, that would exaggerate the OD OFF slug like shifts, ECT on I assume as we need it.
