i have the yokohamas, never ran anything else beside stock long trails or something of the sort. they ride good, give great traction on and off road, and arent that noisy. mine havent worn that fast either, but again, i have nothing to compare them too. my vote would be for the yokohama a/t

Not to hijack the thread but I just need a real quick answer to a small question:
What's better for mileage? Smaller tires or larger tires? I have an extra set of 15" rims and was thinking about getting a size equivalent to 31"s (which is stock with my 16" rims). I thought since larger tires had a greater circumfrence you were getting more miles per gallon - or is the extra power needed to turn the tires a factor too?
Sorry Tom
Sportedition:
That's a sweeeet pic of your tires!
Tom:
Is there a reason why you don't want to get a set of all-terrains? Added "grip" on to the street is something you want anyway, right? And shouldn't they last longer than street tires? It might cost an arm and a leg now but wouldn't it pay for itself in the long run?
Sorry guys, I know close to zilch on tires so you'll have to excuse the
questions.

Have you checked the PIrelli Scorpions? I have heard very good things about them.Originally posted by mertztr

I drove to Seattle this summer for vacation. The MT/R's are a surprisingly good highway tire. Pretty quiet for their aggressive tread and ultra smooth. Will they wear out sooner? Sure, but then I'm going to go 285/75r16 next time.
I guess I'll have to nip this hijack in the bud....
According to the gear ratio chart on places like www.4wheelparts.com, going up in tire size while keeping the same gear ratio *should* give you better mpg, but you lose power. Does this actually happen? Got me. My mileage seems to be alot better now with 285's than it used to be, but then again I also had a bad O2 sensor for a while.
Peter, both sets of tires I put up on the poll are A/T's.....

Oh sorry
I don't usually participate in polls and was just drawn by sportedition's picture
I guess I need to start paying more attention to those poll options up top
EDIT:
oh and thanks for the answering the hijack!
