1993 Yota Xtracab Rehab
Hello Yota People!
This was not supposed to be a project or rebuild, just to use out in the woods and for hunting. Eh that’s how it always starts anyhow . . . .
After using it for a few seasons I now see why they have such a strong fan base. I don’t think there is anything that would do a better job for what I need it for.

With some toys . . .
Used primarily for hauling around my toys in my trailer (and as my mobile hunting blind), it has performed like a champ, everything works great. Previously I had been using my little XJ Jeep but it just doesn’t handle trailer weight well, and when you get in the mud with a trailer, well it’s not pretty. . .
Has New:
Alloys off a newer model
31/10.5 BFG AT’s
Timing Belt
Head Gaskets
Water Pump
Idler Pulley
Thermostat
Fuel Injectors
Wires
U Joints 2 of about 16 or so . . .
All maintenance
Oils, Fluids, Wires, hoses, blah, blah
Complaints:
Could use about 25 more HP (or 125)
MPG, Huh . . .
Seems to run kind of hot ?

Oops. . . .
Well here is where the build or rebuild part comes in.
Who would have thought: Pulling a loaded trailer and a truck load of crap through a half swamp/half mudpit affects your ability to drive straight and also avoid stationary objects??

On to the Paint Shop!
Going to have the whole truck painted the original color to knock off some of the ugly. The guy has his work cut out for him there are nicks and dings all over this thing. I looked around the local yards and got a good fender and ordered a new grill assembly and a re-pop bumper.
Thinking about sending the bumper back and getting a mean offroad (tree resistant) winch bumper.
Inner fender damage, a little more than I thought.

Front Receiver Project:
I’d been looking around for a front mounted receiver for a winch plate or to use to carry stuff. I found the Warn 25873, doesn’t look too bad and I guess it’s up to the job.
But. . . I’m pretty sure I can make something even better from an old rear receiver I’ve had laying around from a full size truck.
The plan is: Cut the main tube to length, Shorten up the flange pieces, Drill a few holes, Weld, Paint.
Took the portaband and cut the ends off the hitch (this thing is thick) , grind/hacked through the welds holding the angle pieces on, cleaned it up. Looks like it will work pretty well but don’t think my toy welder is going to glue this thing together, probably needs to be stick welded.
Now I just need to get my truck back to fit this stuff. . .What do you guys think??
