Ok I have an 86 4Runner and when I got it , it had the one peice solid rear seat thing, now I yanked that out and put in split folding seats ( the solid one folded down too ).. It all bolted up nicely but when I raise them up to " lock " them the locking mech inside the seat is 90 degrees out to lock into the D ring ting that is welded into the roll bar. Is this a lost cause? Am I gona have to cut off and re weld it on right or is there some attachment that goes there so the seat locks in the up position>?

 

The "D" latch you are talking about should be attached to the body with 2 screws not welded to the roll bar as you stated... could be why it doesnt line up.
