different tire sizes

I am currently running 31x10.50 tires and two are bald and I found a killer deal on a set of 30x9.50 and I wanted to know if i use 4wheel drive with different size tires in front versus the rear if that is bad or iff anyone has tried it. I thought it may be ok off road at low speed but my main concern is higher speeds in the Wisconsin winter let me know what you think

You need the same diameter tire on all four corners

^x2 It would only be okay if you were not gonna use 4wd.
