switch to synthetic?

I have a 2002 with 33k on the clock. I am getting my supercharger installed next week and was thinking about switching to synthetic. (mobil 1) motor oil. Do you guys think this is safe after 33k miles of dino oil? The truck has had regular oil changes by the dealer every 3k miles so its been taken care of. Is there any downside to switching over?...any ideas?

There has been a lot of threads regarding switching to synthetics. You can do a search for it and read interesting discussions regarding this...here is one thread. I suggest you do an "engine flush" before converting to synthetic oil. I converted to Amsoil, but I poured in an engine flush prior to changing my oil.

I'm sure it will be fine. I put Amsoil syn in my previous vehicle (new Acura) at just < 30,000km and it went smoothly.

I switched at 150k and I think it leaks a little but it's not bad. 33k should be fine. Besides, if it leaks just switch back.

I have been using Mobil 1 syn 5w-30 in my 92 4x4 since 94. So far problems at all. Due to the extreme weather conditions here in Iowa the truck starts up and warms up much easier. I did not perform any motor flush. Hope this eases your psyche.
