shock replacement

one of my shocks is leaking on the front drivers side and i think is causing the runner to ride not as smooth as it should on the highway and a buddy of mine said he'd sell me his ranchos he had on for a few months for $50. He took them off because he lifted his truck. the shocks were on an 83 toy pu and I was wondering if the will fit on my 94 runner? anybody know

I think the 83' use a coil over shock and I know that your 4Runner setup uses torsion bars with the shocks mounted between the control arms. Might not work. Can you post a pic of the shock, I could tell you then.

I dont have a pick of the shock but there RS5000's, its the shock length I'm wonderin about. I know those shocks are for light applications but dont know about the lenghts of the shock being the same?

I assume you mean the 2wds had the coilovers? huh, never knew that.

Yota, check out the rancho website, they have a pretty good pdf that shows which shocks fit what. In addition to the length, you have to pay attention to the attachment method.

A few minutes at Rancho's website (www.gorancho.com ) yielded this:

'83 truck front shock:
RS 5136 11.25" comp. 17.375" ext.

'94 4Runner front shock:
RS 5145 9.375" comp. 13.375" ext.

The ends are the same. So, the shocks technically will fit but they are too long for your 4Runner.
