Oil and Filter change

Well i jjust changed my oil tonight. Yeah i know how to party on a saturday night. Anyway I used Quaker State 4x4 & SUV Synthetic blend motor oil and a Fram X2 Extended Guard Oil Filter. I was wondering what some opinions are on these type of products that i used. Now please be gentle

IMO, they are not of sufficient quality for an almost brand new Toyota (or any for that matter). Two of the best performing regular oils I've seen are Chevron and Castrol GTX. Not sure of the OEM filter # for your truck (maybe 90915-YZZB9), these are good filters. Probably the best semi-syn is from a specialty lube co. called Schaeffer's. Full syn. would be Redline, Amsoil, and Mobil1.

You spend approx. $600-1000 ( ) each year on gas, why not spend the extra $5-7 and get better oil change products? Considering the amount of engineering that goes into any Toyota, they probably have spec'd the filters to your truck pretty accurately whereas I wouldn't bet money on that w/ Fram. I have heard good things about K&N oil filters, but not too many users.

My .02, hope this helps.

I used the cheap fram for the longest time, but after discovering these fancy forums I've learned they suck. Now, I only use toyota filters or amsoil filters.

However, rumor has it the more expensive frams are better and approach good quality. I'd still stick with toyota.

Good filters I have found.
Toyota
ACDelco
Motorcraft
wix
purolator
Any of these filters except for Toyota can be found at wally world or Autoparts stores inexpensively. I would also stay away from any "gimmicky" motor oils ie."semi synthetic, high mileage, 4x4, suv" because it seems they are a product of marketing not engineering.

Just say no to Fram

Stay away from blends, you could be paying nearly the same price for a full synthetic that the blend cost but you don't know what amount of the blend is dino oil verse synthetic.

I rather know what Im paying for

The majority on the forums says Frams are no good so I use Toyota, but it you do 3k changes than does it really matter, I don't really know and neither does anyone
