no luck today

i was driving my 91 4runner auto then park and turned off the engine for a while. when i was ready to go, tried to start the runner but it was just not cranking. I tried the command start but it doesnt work either. Battery is fine because the keyless entry is working. Dashlight is fine.... please give me some light... left the runner in the parking lot and just went home.

You might want to have the starter tested.

hmm, check the contact on the battery anyway.. might be loose, just enough not to start, mine did that for a day, then i went and got a pair of pliers and tapped the terminal down nice and snug, no more problems

Could still be the battery. Not having ummph enough to turn the starter over. The keyless entry and dashlights don't draw alot of current but the starter does. How old is it?

Tap the starter with a Mag flashlight, or tire iron,

and when I say "Tap" I mean smack it hard "Whack Whack Whack" than try starting it again.

this trick is best done when someone else Whacks the starter and you trying turning the key

If it is the contacts you can also jiggle the key back and forth rapidly on-->start-->on-->start and it should catch. If it does start, I am willing to bet your contacts are shot. If so, Roger Brown is your man for replacing them.

thanks guys for inputs. got the truck started. the only thing that caused it- my alarm-command start-keyless entry combo shot off the starter (starter kill feature) because my son played with the controller attached to the keys when i was away. Lesson learned- dont let toddler play with car stuff and at least i learned that my starter kill is working right. What i did was reset the controller and vroomm...
