hard pedal

my 91 auto 4runner has a very hard gas pedal. is there a remedy i've done searches but i'm still not sure

cable

Check the cable for any kinks.You can take it loose at the pedal and at the carb or throttle body.Then have someone pull on one end and you on the othere.If its binding try lubing it.Make sure the throttle body isnt binding up also.If all else fails just put a new throttle cable on it.

Your tranny kick down cable might be too tight or damaged. It's the one right next to the throttle cable on your throttle body. Unhook it and see if that's the problem.
