Fuel Mileage?

I've searched to see if I'm in the ball park but can't find anything definative. I have a '94 4x4 with 31x10.50's, 4.10 gears, a 5speed, and the 22re. I've drilled out my airbox and run a 2 inch cat back exhaust. But everything else is stock. Right now I get 16mpg in town 18-18.5 highway. I'm thinking this is low. Am I nuts or should it be running better?

I used to run the the exact same setup before I went with 33's and the mileage you're getting is the same as what I was. That's just a sad fact about the 22RE is that compared to most other 4 bangers it sucks gas like crazy.

How does your truck do with the 33 inch tires?

did you regear? or are you still running 4:10 gears?

I have 31 10.50's and would like to go bigger but afraid it would rob me of to much power.

Thanks

Joel

Your mileage is in the ballpark of what many of us are getting...I have 93 4x4 PU, 22RE, 31's and 410 gears. I'm averaging 19-20 mpg with mostly highway driving. I increased MPG from about 16 to 19-20 by doing a tuneup and using Seafoam (do a search and see the many posts here about this product) to clean the injectors and top end of the engine. Someone recently posted about cleaning the oxygen sensor and as a way to improve mileage. I think I'm going to try it and see what happens. I've thought about headers and catback but don't have the money right now.

I'm getting 19-20 hwy on my 89. I got 31's, 4:10, stock exhaust, and a 22re, too. I clean my top end with Seafoam and Lucas products all the time. I think I average 16-17 city. Sounds like you're about average.
