Fly wheels

Anybody know how an flywheel actually breaks?Is it do to the way i drive or just plain old wear and tear?

Need more info. Like type of transmission motor etc.
I have seen them break but there was always an underlying cause. Like the trany or motor mounts mounts were broken causing a twisting motion between the motor and tranny.

i've heard of flywheels scattering because of some really high stress clutch dumps, but i think the main cause is an improper balance. scary stuff, like a shotgun in the bellhousing :o

i have a 99 4runner limited w/ automatic transmission v6 5VZ-FE engine
