Brakes...which ones?

hey guys, my brakes are almost dead and im thinking my rotors too because i feel the vibrations when i brake...

so i was wondering which combo would you guys recommend?
i want great braking power, but i dont want the sounds related to aftermarket pads..(high pitched noises)

so should i just stick to toyota oem parts
or what combo would be the best?

thanx

OEM is always best, no matter what. Aftermarket have different friction matter composition (especially in the way of semi-metallics) that cause the high pitch noises.

For rotors, I have done in the past Raybestos...but still I think OEM is good.

That vibration is actually warpage on your rotors, what happens is runout is causing the pads to rock back and forth into their seat as the rotor runs about and each runout (or high spot) cause that pad to comeback quicker or lower thus hitting the piston and causing that vibration you feel...(just learned that in class last night ).

bought my front rotors at autozone, and pads are "Wearever silvers" from discount, total of about 70 bucks at most in parts, did the brake job today, no noise yet... but what do i know, i only did front end work for a year... heh, do yourself a favor, buy a spray can of "disc brake quiet" and spray it on the BACK of the pad only before installing, its a compound that reduces noise tremendously, if you had any to begin with....

I've got NWOR cross drilled rotors and I love them. Braking gain was huge. They are 300 bucks for two rotors and brake pads.

How long have you had them?

I just did some research in this area. Gadget -- http://www.gadgetonline.com/susp.htm -- seemed like he had some good advice. I picked up the Performance Friction pads (5024) from autozone. They are supposed to be the same as the trd and you get a lifetime warrenty on them. I think I'll go with his recomendation on rotors too, some of the aftermarket ones are nice but too expensive--especially if you have an AT and therefore don't do any engine braking. Just a couple thoughts.
