Whats Hardcore?

Been kinda looking around the BBS, like the setup..

So whats your guys definition of "hardcore"? Personally I think its an overused word, but can mean alot of things....
hardcore to one can mean going up the 311 at evans, or up shaw, or up the crack at funny rocks, so lets hear your guys definitions...

I was up at Evans Creek last summer up behind that picnic shelter where the entrance is I believe to 311.
A few other guy's were there with their Toyota's I did not know, but knew me somehow from the 'Net.

The told me if I wanted to keep my rig dent free, to stay off 311.
They said there were hungry trees in there with glass embedded in them from rigs tipping into them.

As we were talking, a 'Zuki Samari came out all smashed up on the roof.
They rolled the rig in there.

I'd say something like the Rubicon and the Hammers from the pics I have seen on the various boards would be hardcore where you are going to be denting up your rig and you have to have a spotter most of the time.

Leonel's pics here from Drew's bash I'd consider hardcore, as I know my rig could not make it through on that without lockers and 33" tires or bigger.
Gosh I love
this picture here of his rig. He's got a very nice flexible rig.

I have seen much harder stuff though such as this one.

So I think hardcore would be defined as be prepared to pull out some dents and fix a few things when you get back home

What would you rate the Naches that starts up there at FS road 70 in Greenwater, and heads clear over the pass?
I did that a few years ago and about crapped my pants in a few places. But then I am not locked. One guy with a super charged and factory locked 3rd gen made it through without hardly slipping on anything.
I had to have a spotter several times get me over roots my rear tires would catch on and spin without being locked.

Oh, one more thing. I saw the pics of that stock 2nd gen going up Lions Back in Moab that flipped over. That guy was nuts. Ruined a nice rig, and could have killed all in the rig.
Seeing that thing from a distance makes me nervous.

I agree with this definition. Hardcore trails involve high likelyhood of bent or broken parts. I think of it as 'locker required' = 'hardcore'. Everyone has their own definition depending on what they drive.

It kinda depends on which board you're asking too. POR would say," who cares about dents? Anywhere you have a good chance to roll over."

I think on here I would agree with the others. Anywhere that requires at least 1 locker and the possibility of dents.

Um, I like to consider myself hardcore. No reason though. Harcore can get old, just like "extreme". IFS on 28's, now that is harcore......

See, thats the problem, HARDCORE, it can mean so much..
I don't even use the term myself, I just do what i do, and don't care who calls it what.. Granted, I don't think HARDCORE has much to do with dents, you can get those in the mall parking lot..
