3.4 super charger question ? good price ?

3.4 super charger question ?

I have a chance to pick up a used TRD super charger for $500.00 with the tentioner .

Would this be a good price?
Not sure on the miles but it spins good.

Any thoughts would be great

Of for a 1998 4runner 3.4

Also 1 of the mounting bolt tabs on the rear to the lower plenum is broke. Easy for me to tig it

Black is a 2nd gen. That is the better of the two, and $500 is a great deal. Depending on how complete it is, of course.

You might consider getting it rebuilt by Magnuson before installation, especially if you're unsure of the miles. If "it spins good" and your rotors are in good shape, a total rebuild should only cost about $350 or so, and will make it good for about 100K miles (with a nose gear oil change at about 50k).

Not that it would become a deal-breaker at that price ($500 is a great price) but I hope it comes with all the mounting hardware too? Grade 8 bolts in the length you need get expensive quick. Make sure to start with a new belt and fresh S/C oil in the nose drive too since its a PITA to get to.

I agree with mastacox too. Best to have it checked out before you go through all the work to install. All it takes is one metal shard from one failed bearing to tank your motor. Magnuson or http://www.embreemachine.com/ both work.

Have we over-whelmed you yet? If not check out www.urdusa.com for all the other ways we can spend your money! Lots of work but the end result is a sweet rig both on and off-road.

This is an old thread, May 2012. Any reason to bring it back up?
